Diageo, the parent company of whisky brand Johnnie Walker, has announced that it will begin rolling out 100% plastic free bottles of the popular whisky next year in an effort to move towards more sustainable methods of packaging. The paper bottle will be a collaboration with Pulpex Limited, a sustainable packaging technology company. The bottles will be made entirely from sustainably sourced
wood, will meet food-safe standards and fully recyclable. Diageo is one of many drinks manufacturers to make moves to reduce plastic from packaging. In 2019, Carlsberg announced they were working on paper bottle prototypes and Heineken U.K also announced they would be removing plastic in its multi-packs by 2021.
