Colour Theory is the basis of all Fine Art related subjects. Even in interior design and fashion design, colour theory is a must have.
Primary Colours:
Red, Yellow and Blue
These colours are the colours that cannot be derived from mixing or formed by any combination of other colours. Other colours can be derived from mixing from the 3 primary colours.
Secondary Colours:
Green, Orange and Purple
These colours are formed by mixing the primary colours. Green is gotten from Blue and Yellow. Orange from Yellow and Red. Purple from Red and Blue.
Tertiary Colours:
Yellow-Orange, Red-Orange, Red-Purple, Blue-Purple, Blue-Green and Yellow-Green
These colours are made by mixing the primary and secondary colour, getting the in between colour for these hues.
Warm Colours:
Red, Yellow, and Orange
Warm Colours usually remind us of the sun or fire.
Cool Colours:
Blue, Green and Purple
Cool Colours reminds us of water, ice or grass.
Complementary Colours:
Red and Green, Blue and Orange, Yellow and Purple
These colours are exactly opposite each other in the colour wheel. They make each other pop as they have the highest contrast on the colour wheel.
