ေစာနိုင္မြန္နဲ႔ ပထမဦးဆံုးအၾကိမ္ Photo Shoot အတြက္ သြားေရာက္ ေတြ႔ဆံု တုန္းက သူဟာ စတူဒီယိုထဲမွာ တိတ္တိတ္ေလး ပံုဆြဲေနတယ္။ သူ႔ရဲ႕ လႈပ္ရွားမႈ မွန္သမွ်က တိတ္ဆိတ္ေနလို႔ အလုပ္ရႈပ္ေနတဲ့ Studio ထဲမွာ သူဝတ္ထားတဲ့ အဝါေရာင္ ေျခြအိပ္ေၾကာင့္သာ မဟုတ္ရင္
သူ႔ကိုဘယ္သူမွ သတိမထားမိ ေလာက္ဘူး။
လက္ရွိအသက္ ၂၆ ႏွစ္ထက္ ပိုငယ္ေနပံုေပါက္တဲ့ ေစာနိုင္မြန္ရဲ႕ ေျခလွမ္းမွန္မွန္ တိတ္ဆိတ္ျငိမ္သက္ ၾကိဳးစားမႈေတြေၾကာင့္ ေအာင္ျမင္ထြန္းေပါက္သူ တစ္ေယာက္ျဖစ္ လာမယ္လို႔ ယံုၾကည္ျပီး ဒီလ Creator မွာသူ႔ကို ေရြးခ်ယ္ျဖစ္ခဲ့ ပါတယ္။ မိုးကုတ္ျမိဳ႕ သားေလး ႏိုင္မြန္ကေတာ့ ဒဂံုတကၠသိုလ္နဲ႔ ရတနာပံုတကၠသိုလ္မွာ အဂၤလိပ္စာကို အထူးျပဳ ေလ့လာခဲ့ပါတယ္။ နိုင္မြန္႔အေဖျဖစ္သူက အစိုးရ ဝန္ထမ္းျဖစ္လို႔ နယ္ေတြ ေျပာင္းေရြ႕ရတဲ့အခါမွာ မိသားစုကလည္း အတူတူ လိုက္ေျပာင္းေနခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ေနာက္မွာေတာ့ သူကိုယ္တိုင္Network Engineering ပိုင္းနဲ႔ပက္သက္တဲ့ Diploma and Online Certificate တစ္ခုလည္း ယူခဲ့ပါေသးတယ္။ စင္ကာပူကို လည္းအလုပ္ရွာဖို႔သြားခဲ့ျပီး LASALLE College of the Arts မွာေက်ာင္းျပီးခဲ့သူတစ္ဦးပါ။
ၾကားရသေလာက္ကေတာ့ ဒီလိုၾကိဳးစား ခဲ့ရတာေတြက နတ္သမီးပံုျပင္ေတြလိုပါပဲ။ အမွန္တကယ္ေတာ့ ၂၀၁၃မွာ သူငယ္စဥ္ကဝါသနာပါတဲ့ ပံုဆြဲျခင္းကို ျပန္ျပီး ေရြးခ်ယ္လုပ္ျဖစ္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ဆြဲျပီးသမွ်ပံုေတြကို Social Media ျဖစ္တဲ့ Facebook နဲ႔ Instagram ေတြမွာတင္ျပီးတဲ့ အခါမွာေတာ့ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံတြင္း သာမက US နဲ႔ Australia ကေန အလုပ္အပ္တာေတြ လက္ခံခဲ့ပါတယ္။ သူစင္ကာပူကို အလုပ္ရွာဖို႔သြားခဲ့တာ ကေတာ့ ၂၀၁၅တုန္းကပါ။ အဲဒီ့တုန္းကေတာ့ အလုပ္ရွာေနသူေတြအတြက္ ခက္ခဲတဲ့ ႏွစ္တစ္ႏွစ္ျဖစ္ခဲ့ျပီး အနုပညာေက်ာင္း တစ္ေက်ာင္းမွာေလွ်ာက္လႊာေခၚတယ္လို႔ ၾကားတာနဲ႔ သူ႔ရဲ႕ကြ်မ္းက်င္မႈကို အေျခခံျပီး Laselle မွာ ပညာဆက္သင္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ေနာက္ျပီးေတာ့ ႏိုင္မြန္က ပညာသင္ဆုရခဲ့သူတစ္ဦးျဖစ္ျပီး အခုဆိုရင္ Animation ပိုင္းကိုသင္ယူေနတဲ့ Final Year ေက်ာင္းသားတစ္ေယာက္လည္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
Animation ပိုင္းကိုလည္း ငယ္စဥ္ကတည္းက သင္ယူခ်င္သူတစ္ဦး ျဖစ္ျပီး ဆယ္တန္းစာေမးပြဲေျဖဆို ခဲ့စဥ္တုန္းကလည္း စာကို ေလ့လာျခင္းထက္ ပံုေတြပဲထိုင္ဆြဲ ေနျဖစ္တယ္လို႔လည္းသိရပါတယ္။ အဲဒီ့အခ်ိန္တုန္းက ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံမွာ Animation နဲ႔ပက္သက္တဲ့ ေက်ာင္းမရွိသလို သူ႔အေနနဲ႔လည္း နိုင္ငံျခားသြားဖို႔ ေငြေၾကးအခက္အခဲရွိေနခဲ့ပါတယ္။
လက္ရွိမွာလည္း နိုင္မြန္က ေက်ာင္းတစ္ဖက္ လက္ခံထားတဲ့ အလုပ္ေတြတစ္ဖက္နဲ႔ အရမ္းအလုပ္မ်ားေနပါတယ္။ သူ႔ရဲ႕ အားလပ္ခ်ိန္မွာလည္း Department Stores ေတြမွာ ေငြကိုင္၊ sale assistant အေနနဲ႔ လုပ္ပါေသးတယ္။
ဒီလိုမ်ိဳးေတြကေတာ့ နိုင္ငံျခားမွာ ပညာသင္ၾကားေနတဲ့
ေက်ာင္းသားေတြမွာ ေတြ႔ေလ့ရွိတဲ့ ကိစၥျဖစ္ျပီး အနုပညာေက်ာင္းကလည္း ေငြကုန္ေၾကးက် အရမ္းမ်ားပါတယ္။
“ပထမႏွစ္မွာပဲ အေျခခံကေန စသင္ရတဲ့အတြက္ Art Material ေတြပိုဝယ္ဖို႔ လိုအပ္ခဲ့တယ္။ ေက်ာင္းကသင္ခန္းစာေတြ ကလည္း ခက္ခဲနက္နဲတယ္။ ဒါကကြ်န္ေတာ့္ ရဲ႕ ဝါသနာလဲျဖစ္သလို ေက်ာင္းမွာ သင္ၾကားေနရတာေတြ ကလည္း industry level အတိုင္းသြားေတာ့ ကြ်န္ေတာ္ မသိတာမတတ္တာေတြ အမ်ားၾကီးပါပါတယ္” လို႔ နိုင္မြန္ကရွင္းျပတယ္။
ပညာသင္ျပီးရင္ ျပန္လာမလားလို႔ ေမးတဲ့အခါမွာေတာ့ သူ႔ study grant အတြက္ စင္ကာပူမွာ ၃ႏွစ္ေလာက္ အလုပ္လုပ္ဖို႔လိုအပ္ေသးတယ္လို႔ေျပာပါတယ္။ ေနာက္ျပီးေတာ့ သူ႔အေနနဲ႔ ျမန္မာျပည္ကိုလည္း ခ်စ္ေပမယ့္ သူ႔ရဲ႕ အၾကီးမားဆံုး ရည္မွန္းခ်က္ေတြ အတြက္ Hollywoodလည္း သြားဖို႔ ၾကိဳးစားေနတယ္လို႔ သိရပါတယ္။ “အာရွမွာကေတာ့ Japan က Animation ဖန္တီးျခင္းမွာ ထိပ္ေရာက္ ေနျပီး အေနာက္တိုင္းမွာ ဆိုရင္ေတာ့ Hollywood ပါပဲ။ Glen Keane, James Cameron နဲ႔ Steven Spielber စတဲ့ Flimmaker ေတြကိုအရမ္းအားက်မိပါတယ္။ ကြၽန္ေတာ္လည္း သူတို႔ရဲ႕ ဖန္တီးမႈေတြလိုမ်ိဳး ကိုယ္တိုင္ဖန္တီးခ်င္တာပါ လို႔ေျပာပါတယ္။
နိုင္ငံျခားမွာ အႏုပညာကို သြားေရာက္ သင္ၾကားလိုသူေတြအတြက္ ကိုနိုင္မြန္က အခုလိုပဲ အၾကံေပးထားပါတယ္။ “ဒီမွာကေတာ့ မိဘအမ်ားစုက သူတို႔ကေလး ေတြကို အနုပညာေက်ာင္းတက္ဖို႔အစား ေဆးေက်ာင္းေတြတက္ဖို႔ ညႊန္းပါ လိမ့္မယ္။ နိုင္ငံျခားမွာေတာ့ ကိုယ္႔အရည္အခ်င္းကိုပိုျပီး ေဖာ္ထုတ္ျပလို႔ရသလို ျမန္မာမွာ ေတာ္ေတာ္ေလးၾကိဳးစားမယ္ဆိုရင္လည္း ျပပြဲေတြပြဲေတာ္ေတြကေန သတိထားမိျပီး အေရြးခ်ယ္ခံရနိုင္ပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ ဒါကေတာ္ေတာ္ေလး ခက္ခဲပါတယ္။ နိုင္ငံျခားမွာ ဆိုရင္ေတာ့ အႏုပညာနဲ႔ပတ္သက္လို႔ ပိုျပီး အာရံုစိုက္ ၾကသလို Funds ေတြလည္း ပိုမ်ားပါတယ္။ ေငြေၾကးပိုင္းအတြက္ ကေတာ့ ကိုယ္တိုင္ေက်ာင္းလခ ရွာျပီးတက္ေနၾကတဲ့ လူေတြက တျခားသူေတြထက္ အရမ္း ၾကိဳးစားၾကတယ္။ ကြ်န္ေတာ္ကိုယ္တိုင္ကလည္း တစ္ေန႔ကို အနည္းဆံုးတစ္ပံု ျပီးေအာင္ဆြဲျပီး ကြ်န္ေတာ္ ဘယ္ေလာက္တိုးတက္လာသလဲ ဆိုတာ ေလ့လာ ပါတယ္။ ဆြဲဖို႔စိတ္အာရံုမရဘူး ဆိုရင္ေတာ့ ခရီးသြားတယ္ ဒါမွမဟုတ္ galleries ေတြသြားပါတယ္။ ေနာက္ျပီး Pinterest နဲ႔ Youtube တို႔ကေနလည္း inspiration ယူျပီး လိုအပ္တဲ့ အေျခခံ material ေတြကိုဝယ္ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ပံုဆြဲျခင္းကေတာ့ အျမဲ ကြ်န္ေတာ့ရဲ႕ဝါသနာပါပဲ။”

Saw Nai Mon was quietly drawing on the board in the studio for his photo shoot when we first met. He was so quiet in his movement that you would not take note of him in the busy studio apart if not for his bright
yellow socks.
Looking much younger than his 26 years, Saw Nai Mon was picked to be featured as our creator for his quiet dedication and our belief in him that we are seeing a star in the making. Initially from Mogoke, Nai Mon studied in Dagon University and then Yadanarbon University, majoring in English. His father is a civil servant and therefore, the family needs to go to places he is assigned to. Afterward, Nai Mon picked up the Online Diploma and Certificates in Network Engineering. He went to Singapore to look for a job and ended up in Laselle Art School.
It is not as fairytale as it sounded. Back in 2013 while studying, Nai Mon picked up his childhood hobby of drawing again. He posted them up on social media such as Facebook and Instagram where he acquired commission jobs from Myanmar as well as US and Australia. He went to Singapore to look for a job in 2015. It was a tough year for job seeker and hearing that he could apply for an art school, he went with his portfolio to study in LASALLE College of the Arts. He received a scholarship and is now a final year student studying Animation. He had been wanting to study animation since young.
During his ten grade exam, he would end up drawing instead of studying. However, there were not many established art school focusing on animation in the country nor he had the financial means to go oversea at the time.
At the moment, Nai Mon has been very busy with school works and have to be selective in accepting the commissioned works. He also works as a cashier/sale assistant at Department Stores during his free time. This is common for many students in foreign countries and especially art school can be pricey.
“We need to buy many art materials in the first year because we are learning the basics. School is very challenging. It is my hobby but at school, we are learning the industry level and there are many things I didn’t know or could do,”
Nai Mon explained. When asked if he will come back after studies, Nai Mon said he needed to work in Singapore for 3 years to fulfill his study grant. Afterward, he shyly stated that he loves Myanmar but he wanted to get to the highest so he aims to go to Hollywood. “In Asia, Japan is the top place for Animation and in western world, it is Hollywood. I love flimmakers such as Glen Keane, James Cameron and Steven Spielberg. I want to make the films like them myself.”
To other people who are thinking of going to study art in oversea, Nai Mon has the following advices. “Many parents would prefer their kids to go to Medical School instead of Art. You can get a lot more exposure in overseas but if you work hard in Myanmar, you might get recognized during exhibitions and festivals and will get picked. However, it can be tougher. In overseas, there are more focus and more funds for art. As for money, there are people who are working to support themselves to be able to study. These people are more hardworking than other students. As for myself, I would draw at least one picture a day just to get more practice and see how much I have improved. When I am not feeling inspired, I would travel or go to galleries. Even way back, I was always searching for inspiration on sites like Pinterest and Youtube and buying art materials based on their recommendations.It has always been my hobby.”
