From the silver screen to the red carpet, there are so many iconic dresses. Most of the dresses are not just from recent times but some even dated back from the 10th century. This is because they are beautiful and adventurous, sometimes even plain but ever outstanding.

We tend to remember the person wearing an iconic dress and could recognize where it was worn immediately. Marilyn Monore wore Designer William Travilla’s white ivory cocktail dress for a scene in 1955 movie “ The Seven Years Itch”. It became so famous that the dress was dubbed as the flying dress and the scene with Blonde Marilyn in her red lips and the dress floating in the air has been recreated by so many actors and people alike. When people see such a white dress, it is recognized as Monroe or Monroe’s style dress.

In the movie, Monore and her co-star Tom Ewell came out from the cinema and gusty wind from the subway grate almost lifted up her dress if she had not held them down in time. That dress was auctioned off for 5.6 million dollars back in 2011. This dress is in ivory color and it’s in halter top shape and tied on the back of the neck, hence showing off the wearer’s arms, shoulders, and back. The back of the waist is also tied into a bow shape. The dress can be paired with white heels.

There is a Myanmar Icon who made Myanmar traditional outfits well known to the world. That is the late actress Win Min Than who was the lead actress in Hollywood Movie, The Purple Plain.
