The first thing that we noticed when walking into Excelsior Yangon Hotel was the sudden lack of noise. Located in Bo Soon Pat Street Downtown, it is not the quietest area in Yangon. Hence, the silence was almost magical. We were told this is due to the sound proof glasses. This is just one of the attention to the littlest details we’ve noticed in the hotel.
Excelsior Yangon Hotel ထဲကုိ ေရာက္သြားတာနဲ႔ ကၽြန္မတို႔ ပထမဆံုးသတိထားမိတာကေတာ့ ဆူညံ့မႈေတြကင္းေဝးသြားတာပါပဲ။ Excelsior Yangon Hotel က ရန္ကုန္ျမိဳ႕ရဲ႕ တိတ္ဆိတ္ျငိမ္သက္တဲ့ေနရာ မဟုတ္တဲ့ ျမိဳ႕ထဲက ဗိုလ္ဆြန္ပက္လမ္းမွာ ရွိတာပါ။ ဒါေၾကာင့္ ဆူညံ့မႈကင္းေနျခင္းက အံ့ၾသစရာပါပဲ။ အသံလံုတဲ့မွန္ေတြေၾကာင့္ျဖစ္တယ္လုိ႔လည္း သိရပါတယ္။ ဒီအခ်က္က ဒီဟုိတယ္မွာ ကၽြန္မတို႔သတိထားမိတဲ့ အခ်က္ေတြထဲက ေသးမႊားတဲ့အခ်က္ေလးတစ္ခ်က္သာရွိပါေသးတယ္။
The hotel’s building was home to the Steel Brothers, British exporting company dating back to 1800’s, and it’s now considered a heritage site. With strict restrictions by the authority, the building was painstakingly refurbished to its formal splendor. And maybe a bit more.
ဟုိတယ္ရဲ႕ အေဆာက္အဦက ၁၈၀၀ ခုႏွစ္ဝန္းက်င္က တည္ေထာင္ခဲ့တဲ့ ျဗိတိသၽွ exporting company ျဖစ္တဲ့ Steel Brothers တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့ျပီး အခုအခ်ိန္မွာေတာ့ ေရွးအေမြအႏွစ္ေနရာအျဖစ္ သတ္မွတ္ထားပါတယ္။ သက္ဆုိင္ရာ တာဝန္ရွိသူမ်ားရဲ႕ တင္းၾကပ္တဲ့စည္းမ်ဥ္းစည္းကမ္းေတြနဲ႔အညီ အေဆာက္အဦရဲ႕ ခံံ့ညားထည္ဝါမႈကုိ ေသခ်ာဂရုတစိုက္ ျပင္ဆင္မြမ္းမံထားပါတယ္။ ပိုေတာင္ခံ့ညားထည္ဝါခ်င္ ထည္ဝါေနမွာပါ။
It would be too easy to say that the hotel is of colonial style. It pays homage to the building’s past but with a refreshing modern twist.At the hotel lobby, you will see paper plane figures hanging from the ceiling. It might not make sense until you realize the hotel’s cafe is called ” The Newsroom”.The waitstaffs are dressed in uniforms which resemble newspaper boys of older London. This cafe/deli serves delicious array of pastry and light food.
ဟုိတယ္က ကုိလိုနီေခတ္က ပံုစံမ်ိဳးဆိုတာကေတာ့ အလြယ္တကူပဲ သိႏုိင္ပါတယ္။ အရင္က အေဆာက္အဦပံုစံမူကိုလည္း မပ်က္ေစတဲ့ ေခတ္မီတဲ့ပံုစံမ်ိဳးျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ဟုိတယ္ lobby မွာဆုိ မ်က္ႏွာၾကက္ကေန တြဲေလာင္းက်ေနတဲ့ စကၠဴေလယာဥ္ပ်ံေလးေတြကုိ ေတြ႔ျမင္ရမွာပါ။ ဟုိတယ္ ကေဖးကုိ “သတင္းခန္း” လုိ႔ ေခၚတယ္ဆုိတာ သင္မသိေသးသ၍ေတာ့ စကၠဴေလယာဥ္ပ်ံေလးေတြခ်ိတ္ထားတဲ့အေၾကာင္းကုိ နားလည္မွာမဟုတ္ပါဘူး။ Waiter ေတြရဲ႕ uniform က အရင္ေခတ္လန္ဒန္ျမိဳ႕ရဲ႕ သတင္းစာပုိ႔ေကာင္ေလးေတြရဲ႕ပံုစံလိုမ်ိဳး ဝတ္ဆင္ထားတာကို ေတြ႔ရပါတယ္။ ကေဖးမွာ အရသာရွိတဲ့ မုန္႔ေတြ နဲ႔ က်န္းမာေရးအတြက္ေကာင္းမြန္တဲ့ အစားစာေတြကို သံုးေဆာင္ႏုိင္မွာပါ။
Open for business from 6 am to 10 pm, you can enjoy breakfast with their freshly baked breads, pasta for lunch and an extensive wine selection to wind down in the evening.If you are in for a heavy dinner, Steel Brothers Wine and Grill will give a culinary experience you will not forget. With indoor grills, you can witness how your steak is being prepared but you might be too busy enjoying the restaurant’s decor and ambiance. Weekend high tea is offered in this restaurant as well.
မနက္ ၆ နာရီကေန ည ၁၀ နာရီထိ ဖြင့္တဲ့အတြက္ မနက္စာအတြက္ လတ္လတ္ဆတ္ဆတ္ဖုတ္ထားတဲ့ ေပါင္မုန္႔ေတြ၊ ေန႔လည္စာအတြက္ ပါစတာေတြကို စားသံုးႏုိင္သလုိ ညေနခင္းမွာ အနားယူဖို႔အတြက္ ေရြးခ်ယ္စရာမ်ားျပားလွတဲ့ ဝိုင္ေတြရွိပါတယ္။ အေရးၾကီးတဲ့ညစာစားပြဲမ်ိဳးရွိတဲ့အခါမွာလည္း သင္မေမ့ႏုိင္မယ့္ အရသာကုိ Steel Brothers ဝိုင္ နဲ႔ အကင္တုိ႔ဆီကေန ရႏုိင္မွာပါ။ Indoor grills ျဖစ္တဲ့အတြက္ သင္စားမယ့္ steak ကုိ ဘယ္လုိျပင္ဆင္ေနလဲဆုိတာကုိ မ်က္စိေရွ႕တင္ ျမင္ႏုိင္ပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ စားေသာက္ဆုိင္ရဲ႕ အျပင္အဆင္ေတြကုိ ၾကည့္ေနတာနဲ႔တင္ သင္အလုပ္ရႈပ္ေနမွာပါ။ ပိတ္ရက္မွာ လက္ဖက္ရည္ နဲ႔ အစားအေသာက္မ်ိဳးစုံပါတဲ့ ညေနစာ ကုိလည္း ဒီ စားေသာက္ဆုိင္မွာ ရႏုိင္ပါေသးတယ္။
We had a chance to check out the hotel’s rooms as well. They too are also given much thoughts and attention. Instead of the normal door bell, it is a table bell for every room. There’s an old manual typewriter with a welcome letter when you entered the room. Every guest room has these vintage typewriters which pay homage to all the typists at Yangon downtown shops in olden days for notary services and such.There is a peacock figurine in the hotel lobby which we did not give much thought because there were so many decorations to look at in Hotel Excelsior.However, we recognized that the carpet in the guest room is in peacock green color. It was indeed a pleasure for us to witness such dedication to the styling.
ကၽြန္မတို႔ အခန္းေတြကုိ ေလ့လာၾကည့္ရႈဖို႔အခြင့္အေရးလည္း ရခဲ့ပါေသးတယ္။ ဟုိတယ္ရဲ႕အခန္းေတြကလည္း ကၽြန္မတို႔ကုိ အေတြးေတြအမ်ားၾကီး ရေစခဲ့ျပီး စိတ္ဝင္စားစရာေကာင္းပါတယ္။ ေတြ႕ေနက် လူေခၚေခါင္းေလာင္း doorbell အစား အခန္းတုိင္းမွာ စားပြဲတင္ေခါင္းေလာင္းေတြကုိ ထားထားတာ ေတြ႕ရပါတယ္။ အခန္းထဲကုိ ဝင္လုိက္တာနဲ႔ Welcome Letter တစ္ေစာင္ကုိ ေရွးေခတ္လက္ႏွိပ္စက္ေလးနဲ႔အတူ ေတြ႔ရမွာပါ။ အရင္က စာခ်ဳပ္စာတမ္း သက္ေသခံေရွ႕ေနဝန္ေဆာင္မႈေတြနဲ႔ အလားတူဝန္ေဆာင္မႈေပးတဲ့ရန္ကုန္ျမိဳ႕လယ္က ဆုိင္ေတြမွာရွိတဲ့ လက္ႏွိပ္စက္ရုိက္သူေတြကုိ ဂုဏ္ျပဳတဲ့အေနနဲ႔ အခန္းတုိင္းမွာ ဒီေရွးေခတ္လက္ႏွိပ္စက္ကုိ ထားထားပါတယ္။ Hotel Excelsior ထဲမွာ ၾကည့္ရႈဖို႔ အလွဆင္ထားတာေတြအမ်ားၾကီးရွိတဲ့အတြက္ ကၽြန္မတို႔သတိမထားမိခဲ့တဲ့ ဟုိတယ္ lobby ထဲက ေဒါင္းရုပ္တုတစ္ခုလည္း ရွိပါေသးတယ္။ ဘယ္လိုပဲျဖစ္ျဖစ္ Guest Room ထဲက ေကာ္ေဇာက ေဒါင္းစိမ္းေရာင္ ဆုိတာကိုေတာ့ ကၽြန္မတို႔သတိထားမိပါတယ္။ ဒီလို ခမ္းနားထည္ဝါမႈေတြကုိ ကုိယ္တုိင္ကုိယ္က် ျမင္ေတြ႔ရတဲ့အတြက္ ကၽြန္မတို႔အတြက္ေတာ့ တကယ့္ၾကည္ႏူးစရာတစ္ခုပါ။
The hotel also has a relaxing spa for all guests. The spa promotes local made products with concoctions created in house. We had a chance to smell the massage oils made from thanakar, amber and lemon. Thanakar massage oil was the nicest and the most subtle aroma we had experienced among all thanakar products.Do check it out the next time you are looking for a spa to relax.

Overall, we are very impressed by Hotel Excelsior Yangon. It definitely delivers the unique luxury experience for everyone. LUSH is definitely coming back for a stay cation!
